Support from MAKÜ to Zero Waste Project

Within the scope of the “Zero Waste Regulation” prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and published in the Official Gazette dated July 12, 2019 and numbered 3829, the necessary conditions were met at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University to establish a zero waste management system and to enter the Integrated Environmental Information System (EÇBS), and the equipment was placed in appropriate locations.

Within the scope of the zero waste project, it is aimed to reduce waste generation, collect waste separately at the source, reduce the amount of waste in the storage area, eliminate environmental pollution, and at the same time use waste as high-quality raw material that will provide added value to the economy, within the framework of circular economy principles.

In this context, MAKÜ's application request for the “Zero Waste Certificate” to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization was evaluated by the Deputy Provincial Director of Environment and Urbanization Ali Zeren, the Head of the EIA Department Yasemin Uysal Çöğmen, and Environmental Engineer Ayşe Harika Türkmen by conducting an on-site inspection, and the university's request was entered into the Integrated Environmental Information System (EÇBS).
